Police officer found 'murdered' at home

A police officer has been found murdered in his house at Nagaram under Lamphel police station in Imphal West district today.
Partly decomposed body of Tousem SDPO Nehemiah Chodang (58) was recovered from his house located at Nagaram D Block today afternoon.
The body was found by his relatives who came to the house in search of the police officer.
As the house was found locked from outside, they broke open the door and got inside the house, said a source.
A team of Manipur Police's Forensic Science Laboratory conducted inquest of the house.
Later, DGP LM Khaute and IGPs L Kailun and Clay Khongsai also came to the house to inspect the crime scene.
The darkened and partially decomposed body bore an injury mark on the head.
Three cane stools, three glasses, decayed curry and a half-filled liquor bottle were recovered from the kitchen of the house.
It is said that he was last seen at the locality on February 25.Church executives who went to meet him could not find the police officer in the house in the past few days.
Locals of Nagaram informed his relatives as foul smell started emanating from the house and his mobile phone also remained 'unreachable' since the past few days.
The cop was found murdered inside the house after his relatives broke open the main entrance door of the house today.
Nehemiah originally hailed from Grihang village of Kamjong sub-division in Ukhrul district.
Some of his relatives are residing at Lamphel Supermarket while all his children are staying outside the State.
Lamphel police have started investigation by taking up a case.
The body has been deposited at RIMS morgue.
