Murder accused held

A 29 year old man who has been on the run since the past three months and a half after he had been declared the prime suspect in the murder case of a 55 year old woman who used to vend vegetables at Hiyangthang Keithel has been arrested by a team of Imphal West women police station early morning at about 3 of January 1 from Kshetrigao Thambalkhong area under Porompat police station.
According to a source, the alleged suspect has been identified as Md Abdul Qadir alias Amuthi alias Amu 29 s/o Md Ibosana of Hiyangthang Pallak Chandranadi Mapal.
He disappeared from his locality since September 19 last year, the day he was seen coming together with the deceased woman from Hiyangthang Keithel toward their homes.
Two days later the dead body of the woman was found nearby an incomplete/abandoned bridge among shrubs and bushes in Nambul river with both hands tied with plastic rope.
After the prime suspect was arrested by the Imphal West women police station, he was produced before the Duty Magistrate yesterday itself who remanded him to police custody for 12 days for further investigation into the murder case.
In connection with the murder, FIR number 27 (9) 2014 was registered at the women police station under section 365/ 302 and 34 IPC.
