Ukhrul bids farewell to DIG 10 Sector AR

Ukhrul, January 02 2014: The New Year celebration was marked by bidding farewell to DIG 10 Sector Assam Rifles AK Pandey.

The programme was organised at Ukhrul Talkies, Wino Bazar.

TNL president Artax A Shimray called for restoring peace and strengthening the people to people relationship also.

He also apprised the designated DIG 10 Sectors to preserve the sacred site at Meizailung also to allow free access to the site in the interest of the local people, which fall on the premises of Assam Rifles.

Another prominent Tangkhul social organization leader Dr YL Mingthing dwelt on the prevailing situation of the town.

Tennyson asked both the military and the underground outfit to understand the situation and the need of the people.

He asserted the public are sandwiched by threats perceived from both sides.

Meanwhile DIG AK Pandey cut the new year cake and addressed the gathering saying that more interactive and supportive programmes would be organized to understand the problem and difficulties of the people.

He also introduced new DIG of 10 Sector Assam Rifle, Ukhrul Peeyush Pandey VSM.

The TNL, TKS, TSL, social organization leaders, Ukhrul NGOs, ex- servicemen and intellectuals received new DIG Peeyush Pandey followed by short interactive programme.

DIG A.K.Pandey stated that the new DIG is very familiar with the north eastern India as he has been serving in the area for many years.

The town folk should not hesitate to interact or appraise the needs and problems of the people for ensuring the peaceful atmosphere of the town, he added.
