The objective of the BJP-led State Government is to avail the benefits of true democracy to the people.
As such, the responsibility of bringing positive change should not be left alone to the politicians, there is the need for collective efforts of all concerned, Information and Public Relations Minister Th Biswajit Singh said .
The Minister was addressing the inaugural session of a two-day seminar on 'Shumang Leela Tradition' organised by Manipur State Shumang Leela Council at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen .
The Minister stated that Shumang Leela (courtyard play) is an art form which can be enjoyed by all irrespective of age.
It is a platform where social issues are reflected .
Apart from giving entertainment, Shumang Leela is also providing employment to many.
As such, the Government would take up possible steps for the promotion of the art form, the Minister assured .
Urging all concerned to change their perspective on the Government, which many see as 'theft,' Biswajit said that the present Government is giving efforts to ensure transparency in all spheres .
He also called upon all concerned to get rid of all differences and strive towards a developed and prosperous Manipur .
Assuring construction of a guest house for artistes at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, the Minister also promised to work for introduction of various welfare schemes like pension, health insurance and recurring grant to the artistes in consultation with the CM .
Speaking at the occasion, chief adviser of Manipur State Shumang Leela Council and ex-Minister Dr M Nara urged the Govt to bring out a State Cultural Policy .
Dr M Nara said that during his tenure as the State Art and Culture Minister he had given administrative approval to the draft of State Culture Policy which was drafted for over one year.
Now the policy can be enforced by giving a Cabinet approval and issue a gazette notification .
If politics divide, culture integrates the people, he said while adding that culture is one important factor that can bring integration.
He also urged all concerned to give best efforts for the promotion of Shumang Leela, a rare asset of Manipur that is recognised by the world.
