Jiribam, November 30 2019: A team of officials led by Vice Chairman of Manipur Food and Industries Corporation Limited (MFICL), K Saratkumar and Jiribam SP, M Mubi Singh have inspected the prevailing road and infrastructure at Babukhal village under Jiribam District today.

The village is situated approximately 12 km east (approx) of Jiribam DHQs.

During the inspection with several media persons, the team reached out to every household in the village and heard their grievances.

Speaking on the sideline of the inspection, SP M Mubi said that there is large vacant arable land in and around the village.

The villagers can earn sustainable income if they use the land available properly.

He also advised villagers to make use of the vacant land and plant vegetables.

Observing the bad infrastructure and connectivity, K Saratkumar assured all possible assistance to the locals to develop the village and lift their living standards.

Asserting that he will consult the officials concerned to renovate the bridge which connects the village with others, K Saratkumar assured the villagers that he will bear the cost of repairing the bridge if authorities concerned fails to do so.

Acknowledging that the main occupations of Babukhal denizens are betel plantation and cultivating seasonal fruits and vegetables, he added that saplings and seeds of different plants and vegetables will be distributed to them from his side.

One of the locals, P Songomani Singh extended his gratitude to the visiting team for understanding the plight and grievances of the Babukhal villagers.

He also appealed the team to turn their intentions into action for the welfare of the villagers.

It may be mentioned that the village has no motorable roads and the villagers are 'forced to use waterways for transporting pregnant women to hospitals' .
