Imphal, June 30 2015 : Troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) apprehended a drug peddler along with heroin at Khudengthabi check post on June 27 .

He has been identified as Manglin Thang (25) s/o Ginjapao of Tuinom village in Churachandpur district.

He was heading towards Imphal in a blue coloured Maruti Eeco van (MN/01S- 1014), said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .

While checking the vehicle, AR troops who had already been alerted by intelligence inputs saw the driver behaving suspiciously.

During frisking and checking of the driver, the contraband drug was recovered from him.

Two packets of heroin weighing approximately 30 grams and other incriminating articles were recovered from his possession.

The apprehendee along with the recovered items have been handed over to Moreh police station, added the press release.
