Imphal, March 31 2024: Meira Paibis of Khagempalli Huidrom Leikai staged a sit-in protest decrying the simultaneous bomb and gun attacks carried out by unknown miscreants at the residence of one Laishram Memcha (70) last night.

Notably, the unidentified assailants lobbed two hand grenades and fired several rounds of shots at the residence of Laishram Memcha.

Condemning the attack by the sideline of the protest held at Yumjao Lairembi Community Hall, a Meira Paibi leader stated that such attacks and acts of intimidation as the State continues to go through a crisis is regrettable.

Stressing on the danger to the lives of the residents, she pointed out that as the bombs did not explode, no casualty had occurred.

However, if the bombs had went off, it would have caused grievous injuries to many as it is a densely populated residential area, she maintained.

Stating that Laishram Memcha is an ordinary citizen engaged in bamboo business, she appealed against repetition of such unfortunate attacks and demanded a clarification from the perpetrators responsible for the incident.
