Imphal, March 31 2016:
The Manipur State Cooperative Union (MSCU) has decided to open a technical engineering cell.
A decision was adopted to this effect at a special general body meeting held today at Rupmahal Theatre.
MSCU president L Tompishak told The Sangai Express that they have been facing paucity of fund as the union has limited resources.
The union receives Rs 90 lakh for payment of salaries, Rs five lakh for training programmes and another Rs three lakh for celebration of Cooperative Week.
The union cannot survive on the annual subscription made by its members.
If the engineering cell is opened, funds for implementation of several projects through different departments would be deposited with the cell and it would get 11.75 per cent of the total amount as contingency charge and this would help the union tide over its chronic financial difficulties to a certain extent, he added.
