Imphal, January 31 2022: The flag hoisting ceremony cum public meeting of BJP candidate Ngamthang Haokip from Saitu Constituency under Senapati district was held today.

It may be noted that Ngamthang Haokip contested the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly election in 2017 on an INC ticket and went on to become the MLA of Saitu AC.

Later, he joined the BJP and emerged victorious in the 2020 by-election.

He also clinched victory in the 5th and 6th Legislative Assembly election on an MPP ticket and served as a Minister.

In the 8th Legislative Assembly election conducted in 2002, Ngamthang Haokip won on an INC ticket and served as an Advisor to the-then Chief Minister Okram Ibobi.

The flag-hoisting cum public meeting was held at the residence of Ngamthang Haokip in Sanjenthong, Chassad Avenue.

Speaking at the occasion, Ngamthang Haokip said that getting the BJP ticket to contest the coming Assembly election is an acknowledgment and urged his supporters to campaign sincerely in their respective localities and villages.

Stating that he is a man of action, he asserted that the developmental works he had undertaken across Saitu AC are visible for all to see.

Further, he shared that he considers his efforts in developing Saitu AC as a message to the people that he is always there for them.

Ngamthang Haokip also urged the people to support him in future undertakings to develop the AC.

President, BJP Manipur State Unit, A Sharda Devi also addressed the gathering and lauded the BJP Government for taking up several initiatives for the welfare of the people such as CMHT, Ayushman Bharat, schemes targeted towards women and children and other initiatives to foster a sense of brotherhood between the hill and the valley people.

Citing these valuable steps taken by the BJP Govt, she claimed that BJP will secure more than 40 seats in the coming 12th Legislative Assembly election.
