Imphal, January 31 2016: BJP Manipur Pradesh has demanded resignation of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi and suspension of Imphal West SP AK Jhalajit.

Speaking to media persons at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today, BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba stated that the State Government has been projecting the killing of Th Rabina and Ch Sanjit as real encounter all along but it has turned out that they were killed in a fake encounter.

A case has been pending at the Supreme Court regarding killing of over one thousand people in the State in fake encounters.

Saying that the apex Court's judgement is expected soon, Chaoba asserted that the Congress Government led by Chief Minister O Ibobi has killed more than 1000 people in fake encounters between 2002 and 2012 and the case of Sanjit is one among them.

As suspended Head Constable Th Herojit has already confessed that he shot dead unarmed Sanjit inside a pharmacy with a 9 mm pistol, it is clear that Herojit did not kill Sanjit for personal reasons.

He was ordered to finish off Sanjit by Additional SP AK Jhalajit (now Imphal West SP).

Jhalajit also informed that the Chief Minister and the then DGP had full knowledge about what he was going to do.

As Sanjit was shot dead in cold blood at the command of AK Jhalajit, he should be listed as the prime accused of the fake encounter case.

If he had not ordered, Sanjit would not have been killed, Chaoba rued.

He went to question why a police officer who has been pointed as the main accused of a fake encounter case is still allowed the hold the office of SP.

BJP Manipur Pradesh has submitted a report about the fake encounter to the PMO and the Union Home Minister.

All those involved in the fake encounter should be awarded befitting punishment.

Chief Minister O Ibobi was in charge of Home Department when Sanjit was killed in the fake encounter.

Ibobi went on record when he stated on the floor of the State Assembly that there was no option other than killing Sanjit.

For all these reasons, he must resign from the post of Chief Minister, Chaoba demanded.
