Imphal, December 31 2012:
Members of the JAC constituted against the gang-rape of a woman chilli trader today thronged Cheirap Court complex in protest against a bail application purportedly filed by Rojit, one of the accused in the rape.
The woman was gang-raped by four individuals including two IRB personnel and Rojit is one of the accused.
He reportedly filed a application praying for release on bail on medical ground.
It was this purported report which enraged the JAC members and led them to the Court complex.
Questioning veracity of the bail application, the JAC members asked as to why Rojit should be released on bail when the Court has not passed judgement.
They maintained that any attempt to disrupt or derail the justice delivery process would not be tolerated.
The woman who was also present at the Court complex said that they came there on learning that prime accused Rojit has filed a bail application.
She asserted that none of the four accused should be given bail until they are awarded exemplary punishment according to law.
Advocate Ng Tejkumar said that trial of Rojit has been going on.
Moreover, a Senior Medical Officer who filed an application seeking release of Rojit on bail on medical ground has been summoned to the Court on January 3 .
