Expressing regret over the decision of LMS Law College authority to charge admission fees from students displaced/affected by the ethnic violence despite a government order instructing schools and colleges not to take admission fees from such students, LMS Law College Students' Union has appealed to the authority concerned to look into the matter and ensure free admission to the students in distress.
Speaking to newspersons at the College on Monday, Union secretary Wangjam Samson recounted that the state government had ordered schools and colleges not to charge fees from displaced students at the time of admission.
However, the authority LMS Law College, which is under DMU, has made it clear that it will be charging the same admission fees from all students including the displaced students.
This has further put immense stress on the displaced students, who already facing many difficulties.
As such, the Union cannot accept the college authority's decision, he affirmed while adding that the admission process cannot be continued until the decision is withdrawn.
