Upholding constitution must to bring development: MPDF

Imphal, February 26 2023: Manipur People's Democratic Front (MPDF) has stressed the need on the part of the government to uphold the constitutional values in order to bring development in the state.

Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday, MPDF secretary Sapam Samungou said that the 7th Schedule of the Constitution of India enumerates the dos and don'ts of the state government.

Failure to uphold the provisions of the Constitution led to bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir into two UTs by scrapping Article 370, he pointed out.

At the same time, CSOs as well as elected representatives should digest the provisions of The Manipur Land Revenue and Land Reforms Act 1960, which was passed when Manipur was a union territory, he added.
