Imphal, June 16 2021:
Director of Health Services, Dr K Rajo Singh has prohibited sale of any Multi Source Edible Vegetable Oils (MSEVOs) containing mustard oil manufactured on or after June 8, 2021 in the market for consumption.
In an office memorandum, Dr Rajo who is also an Additional Food Safety Commissioner directed that MSEVOs shall be sold in sealed packages weighing not more than 15 kilogram and not in loose form.
Saying that the container having MSEVOs should be tamper proof, the Health Director continued, "It shall also not be sold under the common or generic name of the oil used in the blend but shall be sold as - Multi Source Edible Vegetable Oils" .
The sealed package shall be sold or offered for sale only under AGMARK certification mark bearing the label declarations as provided in the Regulation-Food Safety and Standards (Prohibition and Restrictions on Sales) Third Amendment Regulation, 2021, besides other labelling requirement under the Regulations, he added.
The memorandum is issued with reference to the notification of FSSAI dated March 8, 2021 .
