Army aids IDPs, dedicates open gymnasium

Imphal, March 26 2025: Indian Army recently distributed essential relief items to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) staying in a camp at Mongkot Chepu village in Ukhrul district.

The items distributed in the presence of Indian Army officials and Ukhrul deputy commissioner Ashish Das, included school bags, solar lights and hygiene kits.

Haoneo Baite, general secretary Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Ukhrul, delivered the welcome and keynote address, setting the tone for the distribution ceremony.

The Army officers interacted with the camp residents and local attendees, encouraging them to pursue the right path with dedication and resilience.

Around 150 camp residents and 30 locals participated in the event.

On the other-hand, Indian Army inaugurated an open air gymnasium under Operation Sadbhavana at Leimakhong Bazar on Wednesday.

The facility will address the lack of accessible fitness infrastructure in the region, fulfilling the long-standing demands of residents from Leimakhong.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by locals including Hengjang village chief, representatives of Leimakhong Hill Town, and local youth who took part in pre-recruitment training for Agniveers.

The new gymnasium is equipped with modern outdoor fitness equipment, including an air walker, double elliptical trainer, two single chest press machines, two single shoulder press machines, a sit-up trainer, arms and pedal cycle.
