CCpur, December 06 2021:
Around 700 people gathered in front of 36 Assam Rifles camp at Parbung village under Pherzawl district on December 3 evening and registered their strong protest against shifting of the 36 AR post from the village.
Braving chilly winter night, people congregated at the gate of 36 Assam Rifles post the whole night.
The protest was participated and supported by village authority leaders and villagers of neighbouring Taithul and Lungthulien villages also participated.
Later on December 4, the protest was joined by around 1,000 people including student leaders, NGOs and women association leaders.
Some women cried bitterly requesting the AR to stay back.
Sources said army officials, local MLA and officials of the state government held a talk but could not reach an understanding.
The AR post, however, was allowed to leave Parbung after AR officials told the locals that they are leaving now as per order of the MHA and would return back again to protect border villagers.
