Assam Rifles organised a wreath-laying ceremony for rifleman Kul Bahadur Gurung at the battalion quarter guard on Tuesday.
On August 6, 1966, Kul Bahadur of 5 Assam Rifles sacrificed his life during an operation against Chinese hostiles at NEFA, present-day Arunachal Pradesh.
Gurung displayed courage, resolve, loyalty, and comradeship, demonstrating the qualities of an excellent soldier.
His sacrifice is ingrained in the history of Assam Rifles and will continue to inspire future generations and the entire Assam Rifles, said PRO IGAR (S) in a press release.
The Assam Rifles held a wreath-laying ceremony, where a motivational speech was delivered to all ranks, highlighting the bravery of soldiers in the service of the nation.
The event, attended by five officers, 13 junior commissioned officers, and 151 other Ranks, served as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the men and women of Assam Rifles and reaffirmed their commitment to excellence in their noble mission, it added.
