Imphal, January 31 2022:
Manipur Progressive Farmers' Association president K Thoiba said that high price of urea and its scarcity in the market have severely affected the farmers.
Addressing a press meet at Manipur Press Club here on Monday, Thoiba said that the farmers know the negative impact of using urea but it is still a necessity for farmers.
Though the government subsidises urea for farmers, there seems to be no proper policy for Rabi crops, he observed, while demanding the government to bring out a detailed report on field survey, allocated quantity, etc.
Drawing attention of the government towards the hardships faced by the farmers, he urged the government to ensure transparency in fertiliser allocation and make them available to the farmers at the right time.
He also urged the government to take up necessary measures to improve irrigation facilities.
