Contractors urge release of bill before Chakkouba

Imphal, October 29 2024: Apart from highlighting difficulties faced by contractors under the Public Works Department (PWD) tasked with road construction projects, All Manipur Contractors' Association Forum rued that the work bill (CDA) for the PWD contractors are yet to be released.

According to a statement of the forum, contractors tasked with construction of roads in the state have been facing serious issues due to the ethnic conflict since May, 2023 .

Scores of machinery and materials of contractors were either destroyed or burnt in the conflict and many workers killed, it lamented.

However, in-spite of facing difficulties, contractors have been continuously executing development works, the forum said and appealed to the government to release the pending work bill before Ningol Chakkouba festival.
