Thoubal, August 26 2021: The operation of Community Home Isolation Centre (CHIC) opened at Lamding Higher Secondary School for Khangabok assembly constituency has been stopped from Thursday and shifted to Community Quarantine Centre opened at Wangjing Kodompokpi by the government.

The operation of the CHIC has been stopped due to decline in the number of Covid-19 positive cases.

A simple function was held to formally mark the cessation of centre with Khangabok MLA O Surjakumar in attendance.

In his brief speech, Surjakumar extended his sincere gratitude to volunteers, doctors, nurses and officials responsible for the smooth and successful operation of the CHIC.

Subsequent to decline in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state the Lamding Higher Secondary School CHIC has been closed after all the patients recovered, he said, adding that the decision was taken by volunteers of the centre.

The centre started operation from May 9 this year during the peak of second wave of the pandemic and altogether 741 positive people stayed at the centre since then till the closure.
