Imphal, January 25 2023: Five police personnel of Manipur along with one civil defence official are among the security personnel who would be decorated with medals on the occasion of celebrating the 74th Republic Day on Thursday.

According to the list announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday, the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service will be awarded to Achin Haokip (IPS) IGP (AP-II) and Laimayum Amarnath Sharma (MPS) SDPO Imphal East.

The Police Medal for Meritorious Service will be awarded to Gurumayum Geetanjali Devi, Women Inspector Imphal East; Havildar Sachin Rai (1st Bn Manipur Rifles) and,Havildar Khanglanmei Kamei (2nd Bn Manipur Rifles) .

On the other hand, the President's Medal for Fire Services, Home Guard and Civil Defence will be awarded to Civil Defence Inspector (Junior) Phurailatpam Hemolata.

It may be mentioned here that a total of 901 police officers from across the country are featured in the list released by MHA.

Of this, 140 officers have been selected for the police medal for gallantry, 93 for President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service and 668 for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service.

Meanwhile, around 58 civil officials have been selected for the President's MedaT to Fire Services, Home Guard and Civil Defence, of which 9 were Home Guards and 45 civil defence officials.
