Heroin from 'state' seized in Shillong

Imphal, November 02 2021:
Three people from Khasi Hills district, Meghalaya have been apprehended with 1.1 kg of heroin.
According to a report, based on reliable information about drugs being smuggled in a Manipur-Shillong bound vehicle, a police team halted the vehicle at the entry point to the city and conducted a check.
The team seized around 100 soap caps containing the drugs, following which they detained the two occupants of the car.
A man who had come to collect the drugs was also arrested by the police later on.
During questioning, the trio revealed that the drugs were smuggled from Myanmar and were to be sold at Shillong.
The seized drugs are estimated to be worth around Rs 2 crore in the market.
A case under ND&PS Act, 1985 has been registered against the three arrested people.
They are currently being kept in a Covid-19 quarantine centre, the report informed.
