Committee formed to safeguard reserved forest

Imphal, December 30 2021:
A new body named Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC), Top Awang Leikai comprising nine members has been formed to safeguard Tinsid Chinggol, which is part of Chingkhei Hill Reserved Forest.
In a release, JFMC informed that it has been set up in accordance to the conservator of forest central circle order and elected T Parijat Singh as president, Moirangkampu BO as member secretary and Ch Janendro as treasurer.
The JFMC will work for stopping illegallogging, soil mining and encroachment in reserved forest area of Tinsid Chinggol, it added.
The release also mentioned that earlier Tinsid Chinggol was protected by members of local club, Eastern Sporting Association.
The Committee will continue to work with the local clubs and public for conservation of Tinsid Chinggol.
JFMC from it side will also take up schemes and programmes for development of the people by ensuring income generation activities, it said and appealed to the locals to support endeavour of the Association.
