Imphal, August 26 2021:
Urging the government to translate the assurance given of recruiting Meetei Mayek teachers into action at the earliest, Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillol Apunba Lup (MEELAL) has categorically stated that it will support every movement of MEMATESCA if the government and departments concerned fail to fulfil their promises.
In a release, MEELAL said that despite the presence of large numbers of Meetei Mayek teachers who have qualified TET conducted by Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur; the government is yet to recruit any teachers for the subject thereby causing inconveniences to the students.
As the validity of the TET certificate is only seven years, teachers who have qualified TET exam failed to get any chances of being recruited as teachers, it lamented.
Recalling the assurance given by the education minister to recruit Meetei Mayek teachers, MEELAL said that it would be right to recruit teachers for Meetei Mayek similar to the initiatives taken up for recruitment of teachers for other subjects.
MEELAL is worried to think how teachers who did not have adequate knowledge of Meetei Mayek are teaching the students through online, the release stressed, while enquiring why the government is not taking up initiatives for recruiting MM teachers even though the subject has been taught to students from primary level to MA second semester students.
