PMGSY road in a mess: Raizan Long

Raizan Long, in a statement informed that an inspection team consisting of members from Raizan Long went on a tour to check the qualities of the road under PMGSY in various parts at Raizan area, Kamjong Sub-division.
The inspection team found most of the works were poorly executed.
Raizan Long stated that the Government of India had sanctioned a series of packages for construction of roads linking different villages under PMGSY.
In all the work programmes implemented so far, the contractors have failed to fulfil the laid down criteria as mentioned in the PMGSY guidelines.
The shoddy implementations of these roads constructed in various parts of'Kamjong Subdivision led the Raizan Long to undertake the survey, it added.
In this regard, Raizan Long urged the Chief Minister to take immediate action against the contractors to fulfil the parameters laid down in the work programmes.
The roads inspected by the team includes- Kangpat Khullen to Chofo, Kangpat to Choro, Chassad/Kamjong to Kultuk/Molvailup, Sampui to Ningthi.
During the inspection, it was found that the contractor and his men had compromised the qualities of the work, widening of the route was not upto the mark, only 50 percent of the necessary works were done as laid down in the programme.
Raizan Long further informed that the work of the roads were completed in 2020-2021 and now the roads were being maintained with the help of a maintenance fund.
However, the inspection team could not find any blacktopping on the roads.
