Awareness prog on saving migratory birds held

Kakching, December 19 2021: Continuing its efforts of saving migratory birds; Assistant Conservator of Forests N Munal Meitei along with forest beat officer under Kakching Range conducted drive at Kharungpat, Ngakhapat and eastern side of Khoidumpat in Kakching district apart from organising awareness programme with local clubs on Sunday.

The forest officials conducted awareness programme with local clubs operating around the wetlands including Sekmaijin Maning Leikai Naharol Club, Naharol Development Club.

Ex-pradhan Y Premkumar and member E Menna Devi were also present during the programme which thoroughly discussed about the roles of local clubs and departments concerned in saving the migratory birds.

During the drive, two bird traps from Konuman and three from Langmeidong Maning Loukon were seized.

A Hongai (Chestnut Bittern) handed over by one Sagolsem Rema Leima of Sugnu Wapokpi was also released into the wild.
