Assam Rifles seizes drugs, holds security meet

Assam Rifles reportedly recovered suspected brown sugar weighing about 776 grams worth Rs 6.99 crore, along with 60 soap cases, W1Y (Yaba) tablets weighing 60 grains worth Rs 2.70 lakh from two individuals at Khuga Mata village in Churachandpur district on January 4.According to a PRO IGAR (S) press release, a well-coordinated operation by Assam Rifles led to the apprehension of two suspected individuals with some cash and the drug consignment found inside a Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
The apprehended individuals, along with the other recoveries, were handed over to Churachandpur police station on January 5, morning.
Meanwhile, Assam Rifles organised a security meeting with Kuki village chiefs at SL Zougam, Machi in Tengnoupal district on January 6.Attended by 16 Kuki village chiefs from the region, the meeting focused on strengthening coordination between local leadership and security forces to ensure sustained peace in the area.
Discussions revolved around addressing security concerns, promoting mutual understanding, and devising collaborative strategies to maintain law and order, said the PRO in another release.
