Firing at Tangkhul villages condemned

Imphal, August 06 2024: Wungya Long Village Authority has strongly condemned the act of indiscriminate firing that took place in the night of August 3, targeting Tangkhul Naga villagers at New Canaan, Wunghon, and Leiyaram.

In a press release, the village chairman and secretary described the attack as a "reckless and thoughtless provocation" and called for an urgent investigation by the SPs of Ukhrul and Imphal East districts.

The incident, which that occurred around 9.30 pm, caused significant damage to property and endangered the lives of residents, they said.

They also emphasised the need for swift action to prevent further threats to peace and security in the region.
