Sit-in demands release of 14 held for Nov 16 incident

Kakching, December 29 2024:
A sit-in protest was staged by women at Kakching Bazar Ibudhou Naoha-llai Mamang on Sunday demanding unconditional release of the 14 persons arrested by Kakching police in connection with the November 16 public protest.
During the protest organised by Victim Families of the Incident on 16th November 2024, the participants held placards and chanted slogans such as 'Stop arresting innocent people', 'Don't arrest VVs', 'Release the arrestees immediately' , 'Public are not enemies of police', 'We want peace in Kakching', etc.
It may be recalled that public protests on November 16 against the killing of six persons in Jiribam turned violent in Kakching district as the protesters vandalised Kakching MLA Mayanglambam Rameshwar's house.
In connection with the incident, Kakching Police had arrested 14 persons including eight members of Langsai Thouna in between November 22 and December 19 .
