Drop box opened for transgender in CCpur

With an aim to compile relevant Retails of the transgender community in Churachandpur district, a drop box has been set up at an Anganwadi Centre where the said community may submit their names.
According to sources in the Department of Social Welfare, the drop box initiative is part of implementation of orders of the Supreme Court of India for identification of all transgenders.
Accordingly, transgenders may submit their self-declaration within August 20.As per orders issued by the Department of Social Welfare, the state government has taken steps to identify transgenders in the districts concerned through the child development project officers (CDPO) in compliance with the SC's order.
Sources disclosed that though Department of Economics and Statistics has been tasked to collect detailed list of transgenders in the state, it could not handle the responsibility as the Department is understaffed, consequently entrusting the same to the Department of Social Welfare.
Sources also said that identity of any person or transgender who drop their particulars will be kept a secret.
