PHE Minister chairs COVID-19 review meeting, donates Oxygen Concentrators

PHE Minister, L Dikho who is also the Minister in charge of the District chaired a review meeting of the Di strict Covid-19 Task Force to boost the preventive measures and control further spread of Covid-19 in the district at DC Conference Hall, DHQs, today.
The meeting was attended by DC, Mahesh Chaudhari, District Administration officials, District Health Society led by the CMO and District CSOs composed of the Naga People's Organization (NPO), Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) and the Senapati District Women's Association (SDWA).
During the meeting, the Minister emphasized on selfcreated mechanisms and resources to fight the pandemic instead of depending on the Government's resources which has already been stretched thin.
The District Health Society presented the current Covid status in the district and the preparations taken up by the Medical Department to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the district.
While welcoming the new DC of the district, L Dikho appealed to all the people to coordinate and provide assistance in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The minister also expressed his gratitude to all involved in tire fight against the dreaded COVID-19 including the frontline workers for their sacrifices and service towards humanity.
On the issue of vaccination for 18-44 years age group in the district, 4 new extensions of Covid Vaccination Centres (CVC) would be opened including at Mao CHC, Paomata PHC, Oinam PHC and Bendramai PHC.
The total number of CVC in the district would be increased to 6 including the 2 existing centres at District Hospital, Senapati and Maram PHC, as informed by the District Immunization Officer, Dr Ngouniba Peter.
On-line portal for registration of vaccination of May 26 would reportedly begin on May 23 from 10:30 am.
The meeting also discussed the need to provide counselling to whomever in need by One Stop Centre.
During the meeting, the attendee also suggested the need to extend the duration of containment in the district to stop the spread of the virus.
CMO, Dr Pfokreho Pfoze assured the gathering that enough ventilators were in stock in the District Hospital, Senapati for the time being.
Dr Sokha, Medical Superintendent, DHS mentioned the need to procure OT facilities for COVID-19 positive pregnant women in the District Hospital.
Later, the PHE Minister generously donated Rs 15 Lakhs to urgently purchase all necessary machines including 15 oxygen concentrators for the hospital.
