Awareness prog on ITR-U held

Imphal, November 18 2023: A one-day awareness programme on 'Refund Issues & Filing of Updated Income Tax Return (ITR-U) was held at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), here, on Saturday.

During the awareness programme, Income Tax Circle, Imphal deputy commissioner Haridas Rajkumar and Income Tax Benami property, Guwahati deputy director S Safananda Singh spoke on different topics.

Haridas Rajkumar dwelled on excess claiming of exemption and deductions while filing Income Tax Return (ITR) by government employees.

He also highlighted the consequences of taking undue Income Tax Refund by government employees and urged all to file updated ITR-U voluntarily to avoid any legal proceedings under Income Tax Act, 1971 if there is any error for the last two years.

The programme was attended by RIMS director Prof G Sunil Kumar Sharma, officials, doctors, nurses and other officials of Income Tax Department.
