Orientation prog on prevention of development disabilities held

National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Intellectual Disabilities (NIEPID) incollaboration with Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, RIMS department of community medicine and State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Manipur organised a one day orientation programme on 'Prevention, early identification of developmental disabilities' on Tuesday.
The programme held at RIMS mini auditorium .was attended by RIMS director Prof A Santa Singh, dean (academic) Brojen Singh Akoi-jam, state commissioner for persons with disabilities Th Dilipkumar and NEIPID, Secunderabad assistant professor Dr Shaik Yassen Shareef as presidium members.
In his address, professor A Santa expressed confidence that the programme would be highly beneficial to doctors and MSWs.
The training will also help in the career of nurses, he said while lauding NIEPID and Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (Divyangjan) for organising such training programme at RIMS.
Speaking on the occasion, Th Dilipkumar appealed to the trainees and participants for translating the knowledge gained from the training programme into reality.
He also stated that health workers have a huge responsibility in early detection of development disabilities.
