4.8 acres of poppy cultivation destroyed

Imphal, January 16 2025:
Assam Rifles, in collaboration with Manipur Police, representatives from the Narcotics and Affairs of Borderland district forest officials, destroyed approximately 4.8 acres of illicit poppy cultivation in the general area of Haupi Mollen village, Churachandpur district, on Wednesday.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) said that the operation underscored the sustained efforts of the Assam Rifles to curb the production and trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances in the region.
The operation highlighted the dedication of the Assam Rifles in ensuring peace and security within Manipur, maintained the PRO, while stating: "Our commitment to combating drug-related issues remains unwavering.
This operation is part of our broader strategy to promote community health and stability while sending a clear signal that illegal cultivation will not be tolerated".
The Assam Rifles continued to work closely with local communities and government agencies as part of its "War on Drugs" campaign, which aims to educate citizens about the dangers of drug cultivation and usage, it added.
