Bodies refute statement of AWU president

Imphal, February 15 2022: Women unions of Lamkang Lamkang, Monsang, Moyon, Chothe, Tarao, Khoibu and Aimol tribes have expressed perturbation over the statement of Anal Women Union (AWU) president SR Khingam in the media, during the protest rally held in Chandel under the slogan 'free and fair election' .

In a joint release, the unions advised that the slogan 'free and fair election' should not be worn as a jewellery to disguise oneself and hide the motives underneath which do not serve the masses.

The allegations that the minorities were threatened by the PAC is false as nothing of that sort took place.

If such type of intimation were given to them, they would have protested themselves rather than a third person raising the people's voice.

It is unfortunate to create such type of fabricated story which could tarnish the image of our leaders, the joint release said and reminded all concerned that as 'our nation' was built by the forefathers' blood and sweat, dragging some sincere leaders for one's political gain is disheartening.

"We assure the denizens of Chandel that we are united, we will be and we are and voters should not be misguided by media mongers and keyboard warriors," the joint release added.
