ATCA states stand on deduction demand

Imphal, October 11 2024: All Tribal Contractors' Association, Manipur, held a consultative meeting following reports of demands for deductions in PMGSY and PWD project bills from the hill contractors by valley-based NGOs/CSOs.

The meeting addressed concerns over the issue, discussing both the pros and cons before reaching a resolution.

The Association, in a statement, reaffirmed its conventional practice of hill contractors making payments to hill-based CSOs/NGOs, while valley contractors pay to valley-based CSOs/NGOs.

This practice, they stated, helps in maintaining the quality of work.

The contractors further resolved that they would not be able to pay both hill and valley CSOs/NGOs and urged valley-based organisations not to pressure the PIU (Engineer) concerned.

The association emphasised that this approach is in the interest of the common development of the state.

The statement also called for cooperation and understanding from all parties to ensure smooth progress in development projects.
