Seminar on livelihood issues underway

Moirang College, Department of Geography along with Centre for Alternative Discourse Manipur and Ministry of DONER Shillong is organising a two-day national seminar on water resource and livelihood issues in North East India which started from Monday at the college conference hall.
The inaugural function of the seminar was attended by Manipur University (MU) vice chancellor Prof N Lokendro Singh as chief guest and Moirang College principal Prof Kh Jugindro Singh as president while MU Department of Geography head Prof Kh Pradeep and Delhi University Department of political science associate professor Dr Tanvir Aeijaz were present as guests of honour.
Speaking at the programme, N Lokendro pointed out that the natural condition of hills, rivers and lakes in Manipur has become degraded.
The people are also frequently experiencing shortage of water because of un systematic activities.
The two-day national seminar will thoroughly discuss the impact of water scarcity, he added.
On the inaugural day, 31 delegates from differ ent parts of the country presented their papers on various topics.
