Minister pays homage to Maharaja Gambhir Singh

Imphal, January 09 2025: In connection with the Maharaja Gambhir Singh death anniversary on Thursday, MAHUD minister Yumnam Khemchand paid homage to ruler of the erstwhile sovereign kingdom of Manipur (Kangleipak).

In his message, Khemchand reflected on the valour of Maharaja Gambhir Singh in defeating the Burmese invaders after the seven years devastation of Manipur.

He defeated the Burmese force by forming Manipur Levy which consequently led to restoration of the sovereignty of Manipur, Khemchand recalled, while appealing all to honour, follow the path and legacy of such brave kings so as to build a strong, peaceful arid vibrant Manipur.
