Premature twin babies successfully discharged

Imphal, December 29 2024: Maipakpi Maternity and Child Hospital has informed that two severely premature twin babies were delivered at the hospital on October 19 and were successfully discharged on December 20 and 27 .

As per a release by the Maipakpi Hospital, the babies were delivered at just 26 weeks and weighed 890 gm and 910 gm at birth, which is extremely premature and extremely low birth weight.

Considering the conditions of both the babies, they were immediately admitted to the Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Both the babies developed serious health complications and due to their extreme prematurity, both babies had feeding issues, it informed.

The release also stated that after getting required treatment and nutrition, both babies became stable, started gaining weight and became comfortable breathing normal room air.

Subsequently, spoon feeding was also started and at the time of their discharge from the hospital, they had exceeded weight of 1.5 kg each, it added.
