Bakers clarify on viral video

Imphal, September 20 2021: Apunba Bakery Association (ABA), Manipur has clarified that no bakery under the Association is involved in the video which went viral on social media on September 16 showing some Assamese-speaking people working in a bakery stepping on bakery items and licking on them while packaging.

In a release, ABA Manipur general secretary Wahengbam Shanta Meitei stated that in the last few days the association has investigated and found that the bakery workers in the said viral clip was not.associated with it.

It is very unfortunate that a video has been uploaded without any source which is showing the bakeries of the state in poor light.

It is an act that could force shut down of bakeries, Shanta said, while appealing against repeating such acts in future.

ABA Manipur asserted that along with Food -Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), it has been working for many years to maintain hygiene and quality of bakery-products in the state.

In such a scenario, the government must investigate the matter and punish the culprits involved in such unhealthy and unhygienic action, it further stated.
