AR observes World Youth Skills Day

Assam Rifles observed World Youth Skills Day' with skill development initiatives in Chandel and Ukhrul districts.
In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that in Chandel district, AR organised World Youth Skills Day' for the youth of Sajik Tampak, Sehlon, New Samtal, Joldam, and T Nampao villages on Monday.
The event attended by around 219 students, featured variety of activities, including lectures, drawing competition, interactive session, and an exhibition showcasing various self-employment skills.
The release also mentioned that a skill enhancement capsule was organised by AR for 20 local youths from Shangshak village in Ukhrul district aimed at equipping young people with essential skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship.
The skill enhancement capsule commenced with a brief address to the participants, emphasising the importance of enhancing their vocational skills.
Following the address, personnel from the AR's computer and intelligence cells conducted classes on basic computing and photography skills.
Practical sessions on these topics were also held, providing hands-on experience to the attendees.
The PRO further conveyed that the primary objective of these events was to educate and raise awareness about youth development and empowerment.
This observance highlights the critical need to equip youth with the skills and competencies necessary for employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods, maintained the PRO, adding that during the programmes, AR emphasised on vocational training, education, and apprenticeships, aiming to bridge the gap between education and employment.
