Indian Army sets up computer lab, skilling centre

Red Shield Division of the Indian Army inaugurated and dedicated a modern computer lab at PK Shedu Revival Foundation Children's Home (orphanage) in Kathikho Karong village and a Skill Development Centre at Taphou Pudunamei village, both in Senapati district, under its Operation Sadbhavana.
The computer lab aims to address the shortage of advanced digital training facilities for the children at the orphanage.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior Indian Army officers, along with chiefs of Karong and neighbouring villages.
The facility has seven computers, a printer, a projector, and other essential accessories, facilitating the residents to access modern digital literacy tools that will help youngsters improve their information technology skills and future employment opportunities.
In a parallel effort to empower local women, including widows and Veer Naris, the Indian Army inaugurated a fully furnished Skill Development Centre at Taphou Pudunamei village.
The centre is focused on teaching the art of stitching and embroidery , offering an opportunity for women to become self-reliant and earn a livelihood.
The centre is equipped with 15 sewing machines, three embroidery machines, 25 chairs, two tables, two almirahs, and whiteboards for conducting training sessions.
Speaking on the occasion, a senior Army officer of the Red Shield Division assured that as long as they are in the region, the army will be part of the community in uplifting the society and assisting the community in whatever they can.
The army also stressed the need of strengthening the community's relationship with the Indian Army in the future.
The army officer hoped that the community would take advantage of the facilities provided by the army, allowing them to stand on their own two feet and become their own entrepreneurs, earning their own income for a better life.
Joseph Chachei, chief of Taphou Pudunamei village, expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for the invaluable assistance in establishing the magnificent Skill Development Centre in the village.
