Sit-ins against killing, arrest of VVs continue

Imphal, February 11 2025: Sit-in protests denouncing killing and arrest of village volunteers continued on Tuesday at Kangabam leikai, Sagolband Mabudhou Mantri Leikai and different locations in Langol Game village area.

The protestors held placards inscribed We condemn killing of village volunteer', Stop arresting village volunteers', 'Terminate police commandos involved in killing of village volunteer' and Repeal AFSPA from Kangleipak' .

Speaking on the sidelines of the protest at Kangabam Leikai, Laishram Mema, who is co-convenor of Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace, cautioned that public wrath might befall on the 60 MLAs for failure to shield the village volunteers.

Instead of discussing on the future of Manipur in the assembly, the narrative has change to who will be the leader.

With exception of the 10 Kuki MLAs, the remaining 50 MLAs should shoulder the responsibility to protect and secure the lives and properties of the people, she stressed.
