Residential camp for PwD eagers from Apr 18

Imphal, April 10 2022: Wheelchair Basketball Association, Manipur would be organising a five-day residential coaching camp on basketball for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) from April 18 .

Announcing this during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club here on Sunday, association secretary Md Yunush Khan said that international coach on wheelchair basketball Lee Roy Simon and himself, as assistant coach, will conduct the coaching class.

However, the venue for organising the camp is yet to be finalised.

Attendees of the coaching camp will be given the opportunity to participate in the 1st North East Zonal Wheelchair Basketball Tournament to be held on April 23 and 24 .

Persons with locomotor disabilities and wheelchair friendly but no.disabilities on hands can participate in the coaching camp, he explained.

Association vice-president Kiran Yendrembam expressed concern that some individuals with vested interest are accumulating Wealth by carrying out donation drives in the names and garb of welfare of differently abled people and appealed to the state government and police department to crack down against such individuals.

These groups of people are also maligning the image of associations, which have been supporting and promoting differently abled sports-persons at the state, national and international level competitions, he added.
