AR conducts security meet, extends medical support

Assam Rifles convened a high-level security meeting with village chiefs from Kuki villages near the India-Myanmar border at Yangnoubung village, Chandel district.
The meeting, attended by 10 village chiefs, aimed to address pressing security challenges, promote peace building, and strengthen collaboration between the armed forces and local communities.
Participants were briefed on the region s security situation, focusing on cross-border threats and insurgent activities, a release by PRO IGAR (S) said.
The release also mentioned that discussions also centred on enhancing village-level security through vigilance, improving communication in sensitive areas, and addressing cross-border issues such as smuggling and illegal migration.
Additionally, developmental opportunities, including better infrastructure, healthcare, and education, were explored.
The village chiefs also shared their concerns, enabling constructive dialogue and mutual understanding.
The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of trust and cooperation, with follow-up mechanisms proposed to ensure continued engagement and the implementation of actionable solutions, it added.
Meanwhile, AR swiftly responded to a medical emergency when one Diolin, engaged in bore well digging at Chongjang, Tengnoupal district, suddenly experienced severe chest pain, another release by PRO IGAR (S) informed.
Upon receiving a distress call, AR personnel rushed to the scene and conducted a thorough assessment.
Recognising the signs of an acute myocardial infarction, the personnel immediately administered oxygen support to stabilise Diolin and provided a cardiac loading dose.
The team then evacuated the patient to the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Moreh for further treatment after which Diolin's condition was stabilised, it mentioned.
Similarly, AR provided critical medical assistance to Hang-mila, a 40-year-old woman who was injured while cutting wood in Bunpun village in Kamjong district on January 8.In a release, PRO IGAR (S) stated that during an area domination patrol (ADP), AR personnel encountered Hangmila and immediately administered first aid.
She was treated onsite with five stitches to her wound by the medical team, and necessary medicines were provided to support her recovery.
On the other hand, a timely and efficient rescue operation was conducted by AR in Mapum village Ukhrul district, providing urgent aid to an injured victims.
The incident occurred when a Mahindra pick-up veered off the road nearby Mapum village of Ukhrul district and plunged into a deep gorge, a release by PRO IGAR (S) informed.
The release further said that the rapid response of AR from Mapum post with medical team ensured the victims received prompt evacuation and first aid.
The AR team worked tirelessly to extricate the victims from the wreckage, providing immediate medical life support.
The injured civilians were further evacuated to district hospital in Ukhrul.
