Imphal, June 09 2022:
Pointing out that people following Bahama -ni religion have the least population among all the communities in Manipur, Meitei National Assembly (MNA) has urged the government to recognise Sanamahi followers as a minority community.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Thursday, MNA president Chandam Ibomcha Khuman informed that the total number of Sanamahi followers in the state is only 2,22,348 people.
While appealing to the government to table and discuss its proposal in the upcoming assembly so as to grant recognition to the Sanamahi followers, Ibomcha inferred that under Article 29 (1) the said community could be considered for classification as one of the minority communities.
