Fish seeds distributed to flood affected fish farmers

The Department of Fisheries in collaboration with the ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA), Bhubaneshwar has distributed lakhs of fish fingerlings to the flood affected fish farmers of Manipur today at the office complex of the Directorate of Fisheries, Manipur at Lamphelpat.
The initiative was carried out under the ICAR-CIFA NEH Outreach Programme.
The Director of Fisheries, Manipur, Heisnam Balkrisna Singh along with other officials distributed Pengba and Indian Major Carp fingerlings to about 200 flood affected fish farmers of five valley districts of Manipur namely, Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal and Kakching.
Speaking on the outreach programme, Heisnam Balkrisna expressed gratitude to Dr PK Sahoo, Director, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneshwar and Dr Subhendu Adhikari, Principal Scientist, ICAR-CIFA for providing assistance and support to the flood affected fish farmers of Manipur for revival of their economic activities and enhancement of fish production.
