YCM to organise debate on clean polls

Imphal, November 30 2021: Youth Collective Manipur (YCM) would be organising a debating event as part of its campaign for free and fair election on December 5.Addressing a press meet in this regard at HRI office here on Tuesday, YCM media coordinator Sintha Laishram Khumancha said that YCM has been organising campaign for free and fair election in different assembly constituencies ahead of the 2022 state assembly election.

The debating event to be held on December 5 at Litan will be organised in association with Debaters' Union, Manipur and City Club Heirok Part 2.The topic would be 'Elected representatives cannot take up development programmes because of huge amount taken by voters from candidates'.

He further said that the public should not take the election lightly as they are entrusting their future to a representative.

They should study the attitude and commitment of the candidates.

The culture of accepting cash for votes, which has been trending for decades, leads to various issues, he said, while calling upon the public to choose their representatives wisely.
