Exhibition cum assessment prog held

Imphal, January 31 2022: Under the co-sponsorship of Heingang Gram Panchayat Level Multi-Purpose Co-Operative Society (GPLMPCS) Limited Network and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) -Regional Office, Lamphelpat; an exhibition cum skill assessment programme of products made by handloom weavers was organised at the Society's head office at Heingang Makha Leikai on Monday.

Presided over by the chairman of the Society, the programme was attended by NABARD Regional Office general manager Dr M Srinivasa Rao as chief guest, while Heingang GP pradhan Konjengbam Jayanta, MSCB Limited managing director Bidyarani Ayekpam, MSCB Board of Management VO Yumnam Subashchandra and ICM director Keisham Joychandra were present as guests of honour.

In his speech, Dr M Srinivasa Rao said that NABARD has been sponsoring the rural community ie, farmers, weavers, artisans, etc, indifferent sectors, in association with societies at GP levels through various programmes for rural development.

He then said that exhibition cum skill assessment programme will be of huge benefit to the weavers in the GP, in addition to encouraging competitiveness and product quality and innovative designs.

In all, 46 weavers from Heingang GP took part in the programme by opening stalls and showcasing their products.
