44 Assam Rifles organises vaccination / free medical camp

44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 22 Sector/IG AR (East), launched a 'Near to Home' Covid vaccination cum free medical camp in Gorkha Jhil, Irang Part II in Kangpokpi districtyesterday.
The camp was organised following the new guidelines on nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive and also to reach out to the people in far flung areas of Kangpokpi district in collaboration with State Health Department, Local MLA, Kangpokpi, Area ADC, COVID Task Force and Community Leaders of Kangpokpi District.
The aim of the mobile vaccination drive was to provide free vaccines to senior citizens near to their home since they are having limited mobility due to their physical and various health issues.
The residents of this rural area didn't have any means to reach the designated vaccination centers.
The medical team of Tamenglong Battalion along with DTO, Kangpokpi and his medical staff administered the first jab to 141 beneficiaries.
The medical camp cum Covid vaccination camp was inaugurated by Commandant 44 Assam Rifles along with Local MLA Nemcha Kipgen.
She addressed the gathering via live audio call over a loud speaker.
She interacted with the beneficiaries of the medical camp and assured them of all her support to fight this pandemic together.
She thanked 44 Assam Rifles for their support and care for the local population of her Assembly constituency.
The Commandant urged the people to spread more awareness on Covid Vaccine and come out in large numbers to get protection for themselves and society at large.
Due to the Covid restrictions the local population were facing difficulty in accessing even general medicines: There were requests from the public to organise free medical camps for the benefit of the general public in the area.
During the free medical camp, the medical team of 44 Assam Rifles attended 110 patients and distributed general medicines to the people of the area.
The medical staff thus brought requisite medical facilities near to the home of the public.
Apart from providing medical assistance, basic knowledge on health and hygiene including precaution from common viral diseases, COVID-19 complications and about the vaccine eagerness/hesitancy were also imparted by the Chief Medical Officer of the unit.
He also mentioned that the vaccines are very safe and it will protect them as well as their community.
He urged the community leaders and COVID Task force of the area to motivate the villagers to come forward for the vaccination so that together we can contain the further spread of this deadly disease in the community.
Till now the unit medical staff with the help of Dr Mohd Arif, District COVID Task Force and various Community Leaders of the area have been able to vaccinate 675 beneficiaries of the Kangpokpi district.
